Workshop objectives:

Upon successful workshop completion the participants will

  • understand the role of internationally visible publications for a career in social sciences
  • understand the (formal and content) requirements of international journals
  • understand the various forms publication strategies can take
  • be able to develop an individual publication strategy
  • be able to increase publication chances by effectively positioning their research

  • Publication types and quality control
  • Publication strategy types
  • Reasons for publishing in international journals
  • Measuring journal quality and research impact
  • Improve your chance of getting published 1: Select the “right” co-authors
  • Improve your chance of getting published 2: Select the “right” target journal
  • Improve your chance of getting published 3: Position your research and develop “a common language” with the target journal

Method:

  • Short input sessions (<20mins)
  • Group work (break out rooms and miro board)
  • Presentation of results and plenary discussions moderated by instructor
  • Brainstorming and co-creation sessions (miro board)
  • Guest speakers (tbd)
