Selected topics in causal inference methods

There were organized an online workshops in English aimed at improving competences of doctoral students, entitled Selected topics in causal inference methods organized as part of the project “Strengthening the SGH Doctoral School’s Position Within the Framework of the International Area of Doctoral Education”, funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the STER program - Internationalization of Doctoral Schools.

This workshop provided an introduction with applications/exercises using Stata software about the following causal inference methods:

  • Introduction: the need for causal inference
  • Matching
  • Regression Discontinuity
  • Difference-In-Differences
  • Synthetic Controls
  • Fixed Effects models


The workshop was held by Nick Deschacht, Ph.D., Associate Professor; who is a labor economist, Faculty of Economics and Business at KU Leuven, Belgium. His research focuses on labor economics and applied micro-econometrics, with an emphasis on issues relating to gender differences in careers, discrimination in the labor market, and wage formation. He teaches courses on econometrics, policy evaluation methods, and labor economics.

The workshop will be held on 28th October and 4th November 2024, online via MS Teams.
