Academic Publishing and Excellence: Research Capability Building in Doctoral Candidates - workshop for PhD supervisors
Professor Anna Morgan-Thomas from University of Glasgow, UK will conduct an online workshop for PhD supervisors entitled “Academic Publishing and Excellence: Research Capability Building in Doctoral Candidates" on 11 June 2024 9:00 a.m. -12:15 p.m. via MS Teams.

• Navigating the PhD-Publication Nexus: Strategies for integrating publications into the doctoral journey, addressing the challenges and benefits of co-publishing
• Strategies for supervising students in publication track doctorate
• Collaborative Research and Co-publishing: Fostering a collaborative research environment, understanding the dynamics of co-publishing, and ethical considerations authorship, plagiarism, and copyright issues.
• Academic Processes: Tailoring academic activities to support the development of doctoral students' research skills
• Progress and Milestones: Setting realistic expectations and benchmarks for doctoral progress, including tips for effective progress reviews and feedback mechanisms.
Professor Anna Morgan-Thomas is a renowned expert in doctoral education in the UK. She has an extensive track record in academic leadership, including her role as Research Dean at the Adam Smith Business School (ASBS). Before this, she significantly contributed as the Dean of the Doctoral School at ASBS, where she supervised the research initiatives and development of 300 doctoral candidates and managed a team of 200 supervisors. Her tenure as Associate Director at the Scottish Graduate School in Social Science, the UK's premier doctoral training centre, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, involved supporting over 500 PhD students. With 18 completed doctorates and six presently under her guidance, Prof. Morgan-Thomas’s supervision has empowered many to forge successful careers in academia, with notable names including Dessart, Osuna, Zhao, and Ji, as well as in industry, such as Paternak, Natterman, and Carrick.
