2024

Nils Johan Magnusson, who is Professor of Information Systems at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden and director of SCDI Gothenburg, conducted a Policy Analysis: Sectoral Policies classes for the Political and Administration Sciences programme.

Professor made a declaration of intent to conduct 20 hours-long classes in English,  financed by the NAWA STER project: Strenghtening the SGH Doctoral School's Position Within the Framework of the International Area of Doctoral Education for the academic year 2023/2024, within the subject of Policy Analysis: Sectoral Policies coorginated by dr hab. Andrzej Zybała, prof. SGH.

The classes took place from 9th to 12th April 2024 and focused on the key aspects of what happens when government increasingly turns to digital transformation to assure efficiency and innovation.

The aim was to introduce the students to two main take-aways:

  • First, a foundational understanding of how the digital is different, introducing the necessity for new takes on governance, organizing and strategizing.

  • Second, to sensitize the students to alternative approaches to research and practice in digital government.

Professor utilized the ongoing research conducted at the Swedish Center for Digital Innovation (www.scdi.se) and the Digital Government Research Consortium (www.digitalforvaltning.se), where as part of the latter organization a group of 30 researchers work dedicated to pragmatist, phenomenon-driven, transdisciplinary research in direct collaboration with public sector organizations.

SCDI is acknowledged as one of three global leading research environments for excellent research on digital innovation and transformation, and DGRC is nationally leading with substantial impact in practice.
